Yoga is a way of life and not only Asanas, as opposed to popular belief. Therefore practical applications of yoga in daily life includes the simple philosophies behind the techniques of yoga that help make life worth living and living better. The techniques of yoga aim at removing the cause of the physical illness if any, after that improving the mental attributes on having a calm mind (concentrated and steady) thereby realizing one’s own spiritual self and one’s purpose in life.


Yoga means a union between the mind, body and spirit. It involves the practice of physical postures and poses, which is sometimes referred to as ‘asana’ in Sanskrit. The practice of yoga is more than ASANAS. It is where we learn to connect the body, fluctuations of the mind (Vritti), and the rhythm of breath (Pranayama) Connecting the mind, body and breath helps us to focus on our innerself and become more aware of our thought patterns without judgment. We become more attuned to our experiences and feelings. Yoga uses relaxation and meditation techniques to calm or still the mind. Yoga increases the lubrication of joints, ligaments, tendons and creates a leaner,stable,flexiable and more toned body. As we age our spine ages as well, practicing yoga strengthens the spine and our muscular skeletal system. This practice is very helpful for anyone recovering from any sports injuries or surgeries. Yoga brings calmness and releases any stress or tension within the body.
